Recipes - Berry Goodness

Some of the most nutrient-dense smoothies are those that are based with yummy anti-oxidant rich berries and leafy greens. Not only are dark berries some of the healthiest foods on the planet, they are also some of the tastiest and their health benefits are endless:

*   Anti-oxidant - combats oxidative stress

*   Increase Energy - B vitamins

*   Immune Boosting - Vitamin C

*   Anti-aging - improve cognition by decreasing DNA damaging molecules known as ROS (reactive oxidative species)

*   Eye health - Vitamin A and Zeaxanthin

*   Anti-inflammatory - lowers inflammatory markers like CRP and IL-6

*   Cholesterol Balancing - decreases LDL ("bad") and increases HDL ("good")

The combination of nutrient dense berries and dark leafy greens gives these smoothies added bonus appeal. Here are a few of my favorite concoctions! Again, feel free to use as many or as little of the listed ingredients as you like, this merely serves as a template for your taste buds :)
